CCNP Practical Studies: Remote Access (CCNP Self-Study) prepares readers for the CCNP 642-821 BCRAN exam and for workplace challenges in implementing remote access network applications. Designed as a topic-by-topic guide of how to apply remote access concepts in a real network setting, this book is useful in preparing a CCNP candidate for the general exam questions by providing a better understanding of how remote access really works. It is also essential in preparing candidates for the new simulation-based questions that are on the Cisco certification exams. Finally, it serves anyone wanting a guide to real-world application of these concepts, regardless of certification interest.

Each chapter includes a review of the applicable technology, and guides the reader through implementation of the technology. This step-by-step process can be executed on a home- or office-based lab, a remote-accessible lab, some networking simulation software programs, or even as a stand-alone guide.

All of the topics on the new 642-821 BCRAN exam are covered, providing comprehensive exam preparation.

This review is from: CCNP Practical Studies: Remote Access (CCNP Self-Study) (Hardcover)
I believe the most surprising and very well received chapter for most of the reading audience will be Chapter 2, which reviews set-up guides to show you how to prepare a lab for study.

This book prepares one for the CCNP 642-821 BCRAN exam and allows one to gain a better, practical understanding of exam concepts.

If you follow the chapters, in sequence, and perform their assigned tasks, you will experience how remote access concepts work in a real network with practice labs that walk you through their implementation

Not having taken any of the modern Cisco certification exams, I am not ready to admit that the new simulation-based questions on the CCNP 642-821 BCRAN exams on the accompanying CD are particularly well suited to allow you to successfully pass the simulation portion of the Cisco 642-821 BCRAN. But this is a minor concern, as the book and its contents provide you with comprehensive exam preparation.

This book follows an established framework of other Cisco Press... Read more

I believe the most surprising and very well-received chapter for most of the reading audience will be Chapter 2, which reviews set-up guides to show you how to prepare a lab for study.

This book prepares one for the CCNP 642-821 BCRAN exam and allows one to gain a better, practical understanding of exam concepts.

Not having taken any of the modern Cisco certification exams, I am not ready to admit that the new simulation-based questions on the CCNP 642-821 BCRAN exams on the accompanying CD-ROM are particularly well-suited to allow you to successfully pass the simulation portion of the Cisco 642-821 BCRAN. But this is a minor concern, as the book and its contents provide you with comprehensive exam preparation.

This book follows an established framework of other Cisco Press titles: Presentation as a topic-by-topic guide of how to apply remote access concepts in a real network setting. Once applications are built, you are presented information to digest on applicability and suitability to task, and then a troubleshooting section follows to see if you have been successful in retaining the information.

This book explores complex (or routine, depending upon your viewpoint) topics in-depth, using a complete systematic approach to Cisco Remote Access networking along with comprehensive examples and diagrams. The chapters cover the most important remote access concepts by introducing the subject and then going through relevant practical examples. The configurations in this book were implemented in a lab with real Cisco routers. But, and most importantly, the routers and switches are economically available (see Chapter 2.) for you to duplicate in your home lab. Especially written as a comprehensive guide for network specialists studying for the CCNP 642-821 BCRAN certification or intermediate and advanced network professionals to help answer remote access configuration and troubleshooting issues.
