The Cisco CCNA Security curriculum provides foundational network security knowledge, practical experience, opportunities for career exploration, and soft-skills development to help students prepare for careers with network security responsibilities. CCNA Security includes a comprehensive set of hands-on, online laboratories. To complement these, many students and instructors have requested a printed resource that can be used to study in places where Internet access may not be available. CCNA Security Lab Portfolio is that resource. Drawn directly from the online curriculum, it covers every lab presented in this course, addressing all these areas of network security: " Modern network security threats " Securing network devices " Authentication, authorization and accounting " Implementing firewall technologies " Implementing intrusion prevention " Securing LANs " Cryptography " Implementing VPNs " Putting it all together CCNA Security Lab Portfolio gives students new flexibility to study these hands-on labs offline, highlight key points, and take handwritten notes. All topics are correlated directly to online web pages, helping you easily switch between offline and online content. Additional notes pages will be included between each lab for use as a notebook in class. A separate Answer Key is available in the Cisco Academy Connection area of Cisco's web site.

2.0 out of 5 stars Missing pages, April 20, 2012

This review is from: CCNA Security Lab Manual (Paperback)
So far the book as been good, however I'm missing pages (47!). It looks like there was a massive printing error where pages 163-210 are duplicated. I'm missing pages 115-162. The pages are in this order: 1-114, 163-210, 163-288. Most of chapter 5 is missing and all of chapter 6 is missing. Frustrating to say the least.

I'll update here when I hear back from Cisco Press!

This review is from: CCNA Security Lab Manual (Paperback)
In order to pull the theory together you need to have experience configuring and troubleshooting networks and this is partially achieved by successfully completing lab. The CCNA Security lab manual is the right resource for putting the theory of the IINS into practical studies. Labs are laid out step-by-step and properly explained. Once you have access to the right lab gear you should not a problem completing the labs.

This review is from: CCNA Security Lab Manual (Paperback)
This book has a lot of information on how to configure many security related setups using Cisco devices. Everything from simple AAA to SDM setup and point to point VPNs. Anyone interested in learning the necessary commands for the IINS (CCNA Security) test should buy this book, read it, and practice it in Netsim or on their own test environment.
