David Garneau

David Hucaby, CCIE No. 4594, is a network architect for the University of Kentucky, where he works with health-care networks based on Cisco Catalyst LAN switches. He has a B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky. He is the author of several other books from Cisco Press: CCNP BCMSN Official Exam Certification Guide, Cisco ASA, PIX, and FWSM Firewall Handbook, Cisco Field Manual: Catalyst Switch Configuration, Cisco Field Manual: Router Configuration, as well as the Cisco Firewall Video Mentor.

Dave Garneau has only very recently joined Rackspace ® Hosting, Inc., a leading specialist in the hosting and cloud computing industry, and home of Fanatical Support®, as a senior member of its Network Security team.¿ Prior to that, he spent ten years as the Principal Consultant and Senior Technical Instructor at The Radix Group, Ltd., a consulting and training company focusing on network security.¿ As a consultant, he specializes in Cisco network security (to include IronPort, now a part of Cisco) and VPN technologies (both IPsec and SSL VPN).¿ As an instructor, Dave has trained over 3000 students in 9 countries in both Cisco and IronPort technologies and certification programs.¿ He has written lab guides used worldwide by students of authorized Cisco Learning Partners, and has worked closely with Cisco in establishing the new Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP Security) curriculum.¿ Dave graduated from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado, with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, and is a veteran of the US Air Force, where he was an officer in the Security Forces.¿ Dave holds the following certifications: CCSP, CCNP, CCDP, CCNA, and CCDA.
