Luis Matos

Luis Matos, CCIEx5, is a Principal Architect in Cisco;s CX Advanced Services organization for the LATAM region, bringing more than 26 years of experience in cybersecurity and networking, including over 23 years as a university professor at several national institutions. Throughout his career, he has specialized in designing and implementing complex solutions for data centers, Internet/MPLS backbones, and enterprise security architectures, with a strong focus on telecommunications providers, large financial institutions, airports, and critical infrastructures.

Luis served as the technical lead for the security team during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and also worked as a security consultant for the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games. Over the years, he has participated in strategic projects involving Zero Trust architectures, segmentation, fraud prevention, ransomware defense, behavioral analytics, and large-scale hybrid security infrastructures across Latin America.

A recognized speaker and cybersecurity specialist, Luis frequently presents technical sessions at Cisco events, IEEE conferences, universities, and industry forums, in addition to participating in interviews with major broadcast television networks and media organizations across LATAM. He is also actively involved in cybersecurity education initiatives, including presentations for public schools and Cisco Networking Academy programs, helping inspire and develop the next generation of technology professionals.

Luis holds multiple industry certifications in networking, security, and software development, including CCIE (Enterprise Infrastructure, Service Provider, Security, Voice, and Data Center), DevNet, CCNP, CCNA, CCDA, IPv6 Gold, MCP, MCP+Internet, and MCSE.
